Graduating from The National Film School in 2003, Diarmuid's short film NELL came 3rd in the Best First Short category at the Galway Film Fleadh.

He went on to direct factual and dramatic programming for RTÉ and TG4, Ireland's leading broadcasters, before writing and directing his 2010 short drama CAR PARK. That same year, Diarmuid also directed THE LINE, which The Sunday Times described as 'a slickly executed dystopian drama made with the confident swagger of director Goggins'. JESUS, MARY AND MATTIE was Diarmuid's next drama, a moving adaptation of Patrick Pearse's short story about a man, Mattie, who after his losing his wife, struggles to find any meaning in his life.
